With the release of patch 8.23 on the 21st of November, senior designer Ed “SapMagic” Altorfer announced that the preseason will begin on the 21st of November. Season 9 will officially begin on the 23rd of January, only a few months after the previous season.

Season 8 began on the 16th of January, so there isn’t much of a difference – but Season 7 began on the 7th of December, so there is a difference!

Nonetheless, we believe it is preferable to wait a month longer and have a game that is more balanced. Otherwise, we’ll be forced to play our places while everything is a jumbled mass of bugs and glitches.
